When working with audio and video content, transcription itself is often not the only time-consuming step. With larger volumes of files, uploading media, managing existing subtitles, and moving content between different systems can all add extra work to the process.
Alrite’s latest updates are designed to simplify these transcription and subtitling workflows. Multiple media files can now be uploaded at once, existing SRT, VTT and JSON subtitle files containing timing data can be imported together with their corresponding media, and the range of online content that can be processed directly in Alrite continues to expand.
Managing dedicated time allowances has also become more flexible for business accounts.
Upload multiple audio and video files at once
Uploading files individually is straightforward when there is only one audio or video recording to process. When working with multiple interviews, meetings, lectures or other recordings, however, it can quickly become a repetitive part of the workflow.
With the new bulk upload feature, multiple media files can be selected and uploaded to Alrite at the same time, so there is no need to start each processing task separately.
The feature is available with every plan, and selected files are processed within the available time allowance.
It can be particularly useful for:
- processing multiple interviews or research recordings,
- transcribing podcast series or video content,
- processing meetings, lectures and training materials,
- managing larger audio or video archives.
Bulk uploading makes it possible to start processing several recordings as part of a single workflow.

Process more content directly from online sources
Media content is not always stored as a local file. Videos, podcasts and other audio or video content are often hosted on online platforms, cloud storage services or corporate systems. To make audio and video transcription more convenient, Alrite continues to expand the range of online sources from which content can be processed directly.
For supported online content, there is no need to download the media file first and then upload it again. Once the relevant URL has been provided, processing can be started directly in Alrite. This can be particularly useful in workflows involving regularly published videos, podcasts, or other shared media content.
The range of online sources available* in Alrite has now been expanded to include SharePoint, Dropbox, Google Drive and Apple Podcasts. Content from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Vimeo and Dailymotion can also continue to be processed.

Import existing SRT, VTT or JSON subtitle files
In many cases, a transcript or subtitle file already exists for an audio or video recording. It may have been created on another platform, exported previously or processed as part of an existing project.
SRT, VTT and JSON files containing timing data can now be uploaded to Alrite together with their corresponding media file. This means the same audio or video does not need to be transcribed again simply to continue working with it in Alrite. The imported text and subtitle timing can be edited further and used in subsequent workflows.
This can be particularly useful for:
- transferring projects from another transcription or subtitling platform,
- continuing to edit existing SRT or VTT subtitles,
- reusing subtitles created previously,
- managing a media file and its corresponding subtitles in one place,
- using Alrite’s subtitle styling tools to create animated subtitles for social media or burn an existing subtitle file directly into a video.
Imported subtitles can be edited further in Alrite and can also be burned directly into the video. Their appearance can be customised in a variety of ways, including font, colour, background, and positioning, while animations and dynamic highlighting can also be applied. Alongside ready-made subtitle templates, custom settings and personalised templates can be used to turn an existing subtitle file into visually engaging subtitles that match the style and branding of the video.
As the subtitles and their timing data are already available, processing also uses less of the available time allowance: when an SRT, VTT or JSON file is uploaded together with its corresponding media file, processing uses only 50% of the standard time allowance. Existing subtitle content can therefore be brought into Alrite for further editing, styling or video subtitling without using the time allowance required for a full new transcription.

More flexible dedicated time allowances for business accounts
Dedicated time allowances allow business account administrators to define how much processing time is available to individual users.
If a user already has a dedicated time allowance, the remaining balance is now retained when switching plans. When upgrading to a higher-tier plan, the remaining dedicated allowance is recalculated in line with the pricing of the new plan.
This makes time allowance management more predictable for organisations where several team members use Alrite and administrators want to allocate predefined processing allowances to individual users.
Fewer steps from recording to reusable content
These latest updates cover different parts of the workflow, but they share the same goal: making the journey from an audio or video recording to usable content simpler. Alrite can therefore support not only the automatic transcription and subtitling of new audio and video content, but also the continued editing, styling and reuse of existing transcripts and subtitles within the same workflow.
