AUTOMATIC TRANSCRIPT

How does the Alrite speech to text AI indicate if there are multiple speakers in the audio?

The AI powered Alrite speech to text system indicates in the text with a thought mark when it detects a change in the speaker’s identity.

What affects the accuracy of the text generated by Alrite?
  • The accuracy of the automatically generated transcript depends on the quality of the uploaded audio material
  • In the case of direct voice recording (dictation), mainly on the conditions of the recording and the distance between the speaker and the microphone
  • The intelligibility of the speech.
How can I improve the sound quality of my file to get a more accurate transcript?

Alrite can generate highly accurate text from speech detected in recordings from a clear, direct sound source.

  • To achieve clear, high quality audio, we recommend recording in a quiet environment without background noise. It will greatly improve intelligibility if the participants do not speak at the same time and if the microphone is positioned close to the speakers.
  • When using the Alrite recording function, we recommend starting with the app’s microphone test to ensure that you can understand what is being said without spending extra timecredit.
  • When uploading a file, we suggest checking the quality of the file in an external media player before processing it with the speech to text system.
How can timings be displayed in the transcript generated by Alrite?

The transcript text generated with the Alrite speech to text application can be exported as a Word-compatible .docx document in two different formats in the Alrite business subscription packages.

  • Without any timestamps, as read-along text as it appears on the file datasheet,
  • or in an optimised form with timings, e.g. for interviews and note-taking. Timings are displayed paragraph by paragraph, before the text. The starting time can be individually set before downloading the document.

With the free Starter or subscription packages for individual use, the transcripts can be downloaded without timings in .docx format.

Can Alrite make a summary of the transcript?

Unlock the power of your audio and video content with our Prime and Premium packages! With just one click, you can generate concise summaries using integrated OpenAI technology. Instantly get the essence of your content without sifting through the entire transcript. Plus, the system extracts key terms for you, allowing you to view, copy, and edit these tags and summaries. This feature saves you time and enhances your content’s accessibility and discoverability. Experience the magic of streamlined content processing in seconds!

AUTOMATIC CAPTIONING

Which Alrite subscription package should I choose for video captioning?

Video captioning and other related features such as caption-editing and burned-in captions export options are available on files uploaded in Premium and Professional business subscription packages.

Video captions can be exported in .srt and .vtt format as a simple text file and also burned onto the video with customized display options in .mp4 format.

Caption editing and burning functions are not included in the Prime and monthly renewal Starter packages, which are optimised for automatic transcription. In this subcription plans are only the first 2 minutes of each processed files are captioned to test the captioning function. Files processed in a given package retain their functionality even if you change packages or subscribe to a new one.

The real-time captioning feature is available in the Professional package.

The functionality of a file processed in a given package remains intact even if you switch packages or take out a new subscription.

Which Alrite package include the burned-in captions with custom display export feature?

For business subscriptions, both the Premium and Professional packages include video captioning and caption burning features, where videos processed in these subscriptions can be exported with a fully customisable display: with custom settings for positioning font, font size, font colour and background colour.

In how many lines does Alrite display the captions?

With the Premium and Professional packages, you can choose to have 1, 2 or 3 lines of captions and also select the CPL (maximum number of characters displaye in a row) before processing the audio and video files. The captions can be edited later (timings can be changed, blocks can be split or merged) with the Alrite’s caption editor. With these packages, the maximum number of characters displayed per line and the maximum number of lines can be changed even after processing.

The Prime subscription plan(ideal for transcribing) and the free Starter subscription plan do not include the captioning feature, the captions are created in 3 line blocks, to test the feature, from the first 2 minutes of uploaded files.

How can I change the position of the captions in the Alrite app?

The captions file (.srt, .vtt) downloaded from the Alrite speech to text app do not contain any information regarding the position of the text or other features of its’ display.

It appears in the external media player with the settings applied, it does not keep the characteristics of the web browser player shown in the data sheet, such as the position of the captions.

If you would like to download the captions burned onto the video with customized display, you can set the font, color and position before exporting the video with burned-in caption – the feature is only available in packages with extended functionality.

Why only 2-minutes long captions appear on certain file data sheets?
The captions are generated on the full length of files processed in certain Alrite subscription packages containing the video captioning function. For media files uploaded in packages without subtitling (free Starter, Prime), the first 2 minutes of the file will be captioned to test the feature.

What is the difference between real-time transcription and captioning versus processing pre-recorded content?
Real-time transcription and captioning, and the processing of pre-recorded content offer two distinct options in the Alrite speech recognition application. Processing pre-recorded content is available in all subscription packages, allowing users to create recordings directly, upload audio and video files, or various social media videos, which the system then converts into text. During post-processing, the speech recognition algorithms analyze the entire file, generating precise and contextually relevant text versions that are immediately accessible in the user account after upload.

In contrast, the real-time processing method focuses on live content, such as online broadcasts, rather than pre-recorded content of specific lengths, typically with a few seconds of delay. The system can almost immediately display the generated captions on a designated platform as soon as it receives the current audio source, though it does not have prior context, which can lead to occasional retrospective corrections in the text.

Real-time processing is especially useful at conferences, presentations, and online meetings where immediate on-screen display is essential.

In summary, processing pre-recorded content is done afterward, while real-time transcription and captioning continuously convert spoken content into text as it is spoken.
How can I transcribe and caption my content live and share it with viewers?
If you wish to transcribe and caption your content or voice in real time, this is easily achievable with the Live Stream function. This feature allows you to process speech recorded via microphone or audio and video files played on your device in real time. The function settings enable you to specify key broadcast parameters, such as the language of the speech to be processed and the broadcast title.

During the broadcast, you can pause or stop the process, and at the end, the system automatically generates a transcript that participants can access.

Real-time processing functions are available only to users with the Professional package.
How can I transcribe and caption my online content in real time and broadcast it to viewers?

If you want to process your online content in real time, the Live Streaming feature allows you to easily add captions to live streams.

The settings for this feature let you define key parameters, such as the language of the speech to be processed and the title of the broadcast.

During the broadcast, you can pause or stop the stream as needed. The system automatically generates captions from the speech, and at the end of the broadcast, the transcript can be saved and shared with both the broadcaster and viewers.

Real-time processing features are available exclusively for users with the Professional package.

What is automated speech to text?

Automated speech to text services can convert pre-existing or recorded audio material into text within seconds or minutes. They do so with the help of AI.

For instance, the Alrite speech to text software utilizes AI to provide speech transcription in 9 languages, automated translation, automated captioning, and more!

What should I consider when recording to ensure that Alrite voice recognition produces the most accurate transcript?

The accuracy of the automated transcript depends first and foremost on the quality of the audio or video file recorded or uploaded, and the intelligibility of the speech.

The accuracy of the transcript generated in the Alrite speech to text app can be affected by several factors: the acoustic conditions of the room, the multi-directional sound source, the volume of the speech and the distance of the speakers from the microphone.

A good quality transcript can be as accurate as 90-95%. By increasing the volume of the speech and shortening the distance between the speaker and the recording device, by placing the speaker in the right direction, the intelligibility of the recorded speech and thus the accuracy of the resulting transcript can be greatly improved.

If you are recording with a mobile device:

  • When recording audio, it is recommended that you point the microphone of your mobile phone (usually at the bottom of the device) towards the audio source.

  • When recording a meeting with a mobile device placed in the middle of the table, you can use the “Test microphone” function to check that the speech is clearly understood on the recording without using extra timecredit.
  • Clicking into the transcript will resume playback at the word where that word appears in the recording, so that a transcript created from audio/video can be easily edited in both the mobile and web application.
In the browser version, the review is further enhanced by the “Show Uncertain Words” feature, which when enabled, highlights words that the app was unsure of in burgundy.
Do I need internet access to use the Alrite speech to text app?

All features of the Alrite speech to text web application require a stable internet connection,  while with the mobile application audio or video can be recorded offline.

Once recorded with the Alrite mobile app, the recording is stored in the mobile device’s memory and is temporarily (as long as it remains logged in) added to the ‘Files waiting to be Uploaded’ in the Alrite mobile app.

In order to generate transcript and captions of the mobile app recording, you will need to upload the file, which again requires an internet connection.

How can I order from the mobile app?

Only the individual users (for private use) can subscribe in the Alrite mobile app, as payment is made via the App Store or Google Play account linked to the mobile device and the invoice is issued by the company running the store based on the data stored there.

What is the difference between Alrite's web app and its mobile app?

You can choose to upload the file immediately before processing recordings recorded with the Alrite mobile app, or you can listen back, save and send the recording.

Files that you do not want to process immediately after you have finished recording in the mobile app are temporarily (while you remain logged into the app) stored in the phone’s internal memory and are stored in a separate folder in the app, from which you can upload or delete them.

Video recording is also possible in the Alrite mobile app, after enabling access to the phone’s microphone and camera.
